I first fell in love with her and her style, about seven years ago as her character Joan Clayton on the hit series “Girlfriends”. Her style had me turning to channel thirteen every Thursday to watch what she had on! I soon became a huge fan and began to follow her through out the media to find out more about her. Getting her roots from her divalicous mother Diana Ross and modeling, its plain to see that she has been surrounded by the world of entertainment and fashion all of her life. From her curly locks to her amazing style Tracee has become a major influence of great style in my book. One look that I will never forget that she rocked on her show, were cargo pants paired with stilettos, and I believe it was a hoodie, tunic, or crop top. That look made her a style star from that point on. Aside from her style, her funny personality, and how she connects with her fans daily through her blog keeps me a fan of hers! So here’s to my very first featured style star Ms. Tracee Ellis Ross. Who are some of your style stars?
When I’m home in my spare time, I always swarm to my closet to create something aesthetically different. I always like to reach for a piece that would give me an inspiration to get my mind going, so this time and mostly as always, I went into my mother’s closet. She is my main inspiration for fashion since I was a little girl. She has a collection of church suits and there are some that she has not touched in a while so I took it upon myself to bring a little light to them, of course at the risk of her scorn! This tweed skirt, which belongs to her, made me want to wear it because it looked like tweed and some other knit mixed into one. Instead of being traditional, I opted for my self made denim bandeau and a eye catching blazer. My old soul and new twist brought this look together! Something I couldn’t rock at work but definitely “werk” after 5. What do you all think? Leave your feed back in a comment below! (excuse the digits in the prints)
What I’m Wearing: blazer Forever21, bandeau , self made, skirt no brand(mother’s archives), heels Torrid

First and foremost I want to apologize for not blogging lately, I’ve been without internet connection but I’m back! It’s the fall and I love to embrace everything about this time of the year. The colors, the outwear, layering, and overall just being able to play up different pieces together without worrying about the heat! Out here in Cali you never know what to expect from day to day so I’m able to put some fall pieces together paired pieces to keep me cool at the same time. I love this skirt that I purchased from Ashley Stewart about four years ago that I rarely wear. There are so many ways to style this skirt. I decided to let it stand as a statement piece alone and just be rather minimalist. When I shop, I shop for rational reasons, such as for pieces that I feel will add value to my wardrobe. I feel like its a waste to buy pieces that are just cute, or on a major sale promotion but something that will stay around, has style and can stay in my closet for some years to come. This skirt is one of those and is an all around piece and just so happens to be on “trend alert” for all you trendy girls take note! I however don’t necessarily go for trends but for what ever I feel like wearing!
What I’m wearing: top Lerner’s New York, skirt Ashley Stewart, heels Bakers, socks H&M
The presentation of Spring 2014 ready-to-wear collections are being shown around the world right now, and presently it is Paris fashion week. The excitement of spring collections, bring fashion lovers, as my self, to tune in any way possible. I am not lucky enough yet to sit front row or any row of that matter, at any of these shows so I use my front row seat from my handy computer to make sure I see all of these beautiful collections. Chanel is my favorite designer and if I don’t see any other show I MUST see Chanel’s collection! Karl Lagerfeld is a genius in his craft and carries on Coco’s legacy greatly. Here’s a small preview of some of my favorite looks of the designers presenting their collections in Paris Fashion Week.
Chanel spring and Emanuel Ungaro ready-to-wear collections.
Staying true to the the classic look, Chanel showed classic elements to their style using tweed in blazers, skirts and pants while also giving a mood and feel of art as a main inspiration. Colors such as pink made quite the presence along with asymmetrical and cropped cuts in several looks. Oversize pearl necklace’s accented the looks also. Emanuel Ungaro kept the trend of prints ongoing while adding ruffles and and pops of color to the looks. Flowy maxi skirts and dresses with high slits were also a hit.
Valentino and Valentine Yudaskin spring ready-to-wear collections
Valentino brought the feel of tribal and peasant to the runway this spring. Soft elements of lace and chiffon kept the use of rather dark tones of color light. Wide leg pants, long vests and high waist shorts made their way down the runway, with prints of leopard and tribal inspiration. Valentine Yudaskin kept it regal in style and drew the eye with gem colors of gold and turquoise. I die for gowns and I was definitely giving around of applause to the closing look which was a beautiful gold and white gown, with sequined design that highlighted the hips and shoulders and soft white chiffon at the bottom. Baroque prints also graced the runway.
Saint Laurant and Givenchy spring ready-to-wear collection.
Saint Laurant kept it sleek and sexy with a mix of 80’s and 90’s inspiration in the designs. Dark color with a pop of pink and teal were a hit, with structured looks in the blazers with cut off sleeves and exaggerated shoulder pads. Blazers tops and jumpsuits were also presented with high skirts. Givenchy, the great designer, focused on the body and draping through out their looks. Jersey, silk, sequins and sexy is the feel I received from this collection.I loved the use of draping along with the use of different silhouettes such as asymmetrical cuts.
Lace and pearls can really bring out the lady in a woman, however I’ve decided to mute this very girly silhouette in a casual tone. I love this dress because one it shows off my figure very well and two it can be styled in several different ways.I decided to express my love for pearls(which you will all learn quickly) and show how two opposites can attract quite well, with boots that would not be thought of to be paired with this dress.I also find that I can be attracted to the camera quickly and want to create a ten page spread like I’m in Vogue magazine!(my camera phone is a whole another story). Expression is a huge part of me and was captured through the lens in my own way with the help of my friend Raven. Here’s what we captured.
